As part of the DigiGreen program, an innovative initiative has been supported for the creation of a specialized facility for drying organic thyme, promoting sustainable agriculture and local economic development in rural areas of Tirana.

The project aims to combine the tradition of medicinal herb cultivation with clean technology, creating an eco-friendly and efficient drying process with minimal environmental impact. Thyme — one of Albania’s most valuable aromatic and medicinal plants — is dried under controlled conditions using solar energy and natural methods to preserve its aroma, nutritional values, and bioactive compounds.

Through this investment, the project seeks to:

  • Establish an environmentally friendly production line;
  • Use renewable energy and efficient equipment;
  • Reduce waste through reuse and composting practices;
  • Support local farmers cultivating organic herbs.

The initiative fully aligns with the “Go Green” principles by:

Promoting certified organic Albanian products in domestic and international markets.

Reducing energy and water consumption;

Minimizing pollution during production;

Using biodegradable and recyclable packaging;
